Conrad Kemp was born in Cape Town but did most of his growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa. He came relatively late to acting, having started his earning life as a banker and only performing professionally for the first time aged 27. He trained at The Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, graduating a year ahead of Aiden Turner. Most of his early work was in the theatre and included multiple shows in Ireland, as well as a run on The West End in Marie Jones' 'Stones In His Pockets'. He returned to South Africa in 2008 to be with his ailing father where he lectured for a year before returning to acting. His first screen work was in the multiple award-winning 'The Sound of People', and his first feature length screen project was as Captain Dustin Nelson in 'Sniper: Reloaded'. A supporting role as Evan Hunter in HBO's 'The Girl' marked a significant move towards screen, a move that seems to be gathering momentum after being cast as Dan Fletcher opposite Orlando Bloom and Forest Whitaker in 'Zulu'. He has written for theatre twice to critical acclaim ('They' for 'Soft' in 2009 and 'The Clown and Mrs Fell' in 2010). He is also a trustee for the charity 'Dramatic Need', which operates in South Africa and Rwanda.
